How Freelancers Can Meet Deadlines
Primarily, reputation as a freelancer is based on the quality of their work as well their ability to meet deadlines. However, many freelancers often lose out on this important aspect of guarding their reputation. This is not to say that all hopes are gone.  This paper outlines simple steps that freelancers can follow to aid them manage their time allocation and consequently meet deadlines.

The first step toward meeting deadlines is caring about deadlines. Apparently, most freelancers are unresponsive to the time-factor. Thus, it is important that they have a positive attitude toward the deadline set for a particular task lest this laxity causes them to miss deadlines. Secondly, it is necessary to keep a list of pending tasks and cases in order of urgency. The reason why most writers are caught up with time is because they simply forget that they have some pending tasks. Therefore, by having a list of tasks to be completed it will enable them be continuously aware of due tasks.

The third step in ensuring freelancers meet their deadlines is setting your own deadline, usually way shorter than that of the client. This works as a cushion incase some unexpected events force you to lose some time. This way you will still be able to complete the task within the deadline set by your client. Finally, it is important for freelancers to know the limits of their abilities. Easily put, do not over commit. Not only in freelancing has over commitment been identified as a cause of missed deadlines. When a freelancer accepts tasks that they cannot handle, it is likely that they will miss deadlines.

Undoubtedly, the ability to meet deadlines is vital skill that freelancers need to equip themselves with in order to keep their reputation as this is what keeps them relevant in their employers’ payroll. The first step for meeting deadlines is being conscious about deadlines as all the other skills are dependent on it.
